Anniversary ball launched

June 29 - The East Anglian Air Ambulance is set to round off a year of special tenth anniversary fundraising initiatives with a glittering ball at the Norwich Showground on Saturday 9 October 2010. The ball will be attended by the charity’s supporters from across the four counties it serves, as well as many special guests. Some of the crews who serve aboard the life-saving aircraft will also be attending.
In the ten years since the air ambulance service was launched in the region, Anglia One and Anglia Two and their highly trained clinical crews, have helped to save hundreds of lives and have improved the outcome for thousands of other victims of accidents and medical emergencies.
The Grand Anniversary Ball will help the EAAA raise vitally needed funds as it starts its second decade. Guests will experience a specially selected four course dinner, including the dessert selected by judges, including Morston Hall’s Galton Blackiston, as the winner in the charity’s Pie in the Sky dessert competition. One of East Anglia’s most well known bands, the Len Vasey Big Band, will provide musical entertainment with other attractions including a top London cabaret act, a grand auction and draw.
The Pie in the Sky cookbook will also be on sale on the ball. It will contain indulgent pudding recipes, including those submitted by the region’s amateur cooks, which most impressed the Galton Blackiston and his fellow judges, Stephen David from The Crown at Woodbridge, Jason Waterfield from Kings College, Cambridge and Martin Lee from The Plough at Bolnshurst. It will also contain signature dessert recipes from some of the region’s leading chefs and restaurateurs.
Tickets for the ball cost £65.
Commenting on the EAAA Tenth Anniversary Ball, Richard Robinson, Fundraising and Marketing Director of the charity said: “Ten years of saving lives is a reason to celebrate and we intend to make the ball a night to remember. It’s shaping up to be a very special night and we hope as many of our supporters as possible will join us to celebrate this unique occasion.â€
Simon Gray, the charity’s chief executive, added: “Our tenth anniversary year is proving one of our busiest yet. Our aircraft have been in action virtually every day so far this year, showing week in, week out, just how important the service is in our region.Â
We’d like to say a big thank you to all those who have supported and encouraged us in so many ways.  We hope to welcome friends old and new at the ball as we celebrate the past ten years and look ahead to the next decade.â€
