The big hearted charity bikersJune 29 - Little Downham-based charity bikers group, The Big-Hearted Charity Bikers, is inviting keen bike enthusiasts and karters to join them for its annual charity weekend.
This year’s event kicks off on Saturday 24 July with a coastal ride to Hunstanton, Cromer and then on to Great Yarmouth where their bikes will be on display on the sea front and riders will stay overnight.  On Sunday 25 July, they will ride on to Red Lodge for an afternoon’s go-karting, including a two and half hour endurance race.  Activities for children such as a bouncy castle and face-painting will also be on offer.
Throughout the weekend the Big-Hearted Charity Bikers will be fundraising for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.  Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2010, the charity is all too regularly called to help injured motorcyclists and assisting victims of road traffic collisions accounts for over half of all its missions.
Paul Badcock, a lorry driver from Little Downham and one of the founders of The Big-Hearted Charity Bikers, said:  “Last year’s event was fantastic so we’ve decided to go one better this year by including the karting and activities for children on Sunday to help us make the event more of a family day out.
We meet for bacon butties in The Plough at Little Downham at 8.00 am on Saturday 24 July and then set up for Great Yarmouth round the coast via Hunstanton and Cromer.
As keen bikers, we’re all too well aware of the importance of having an air ambulance and we all feel a little bit safer for knowing it’s there.  We hope to raise a lot of money to help the charity as it celebrates ten years of helping to save lives.â€
Thirty places are available for this year’s event and those interesting in taking part are asked to contact Paul by email at  or by phone on 07930 633380.  More information is available at this link.  The cost of hotel accommodation is £45 per person and the karting costs £30 per person.
