Cambridgeshire firm's charity boost
Clare Philips, 25 January 2012
A family firm based in Cambridgeshire has raised nearly £2,500 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA.)
The Gunite Group, based at St Ives, embarked on a yearlong challenge to raise the money and has recently donated £2,420.13 to the charity.
Chris Donaldson, Area Fundraising Manager for the EAAA, said: “The amount of money raised by staff at Gunite is fantastic and we’re tremendously grateful to have been chosen as their charity of the year.  To put this sum in to context, it equates to around two missions by the air ambulance.  This means that staff at Gunite and those who supported them, have potentially helped to save the lives of two local people.  We can’t thank them enough for helping us do that.”
The money was raised over the course of the last year and staff endured tasks such as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and the British 10k London Run as well as raffles, cake sales and a secret Santa.
Katrina Otter, Sales and Marketing Director for Gunite, said: “We are delighted to have raised money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance last year and to know that this money will be going towards such a worthwhile cause.”
Gunite combines three separate contractors specialising in building refurbishment, concrete repairs, intumescent coatings, fire stopping and protection, bespoke joinery and interior fit outs.   Established over 25 years ago, it works with customers across the UK including building contractors, surveyors and local authorities.
