"Jump With Steve"
The East Anglian Air Ambulance has teamed up with Skydive Airkix, Sibson Airfield, Peterborough for an exciting challenge which will run continuously thoughout the summer and autum months of this year.
Steve Truglia is being supported by Airkix, the operators of the vertical wind tunnel skydiving simulator in Milton Keynes, for attempts on both the European and the World Skydiving altitude records. Steve intends to make a record breaking freefall from 50,000 ft this year, and then jump from over 120,000ft in 2009. Steve will be training over the next few months both at Airkix MK, where he is learning to fly his space suit, and at Skydive Airkix at Peterborugh, where he is learing to fly new and specialized skydiving equipment. Steve and Skydive Airkix have chosen the East Anglian Air Ambulance as their partner charity for this challenge.
Our supporters are being offered the chance to involve themselves by making a Tandem Freefall Skydive in aid of the charity. Even better, by getting themselves sponsored by friends and colleagues, it is possible to make a' Jump with Steve' FOR FREE!
The Scheme is in fact to be called ‘Jump with Steve’. Supporters making Tandem Skydives at Skydive Airkix will, on an opportunity basis, get the chance to share the aircraft with Steve as he trains for his attempts. They will also get the chance to chat to Steve when he is at Skydive Airkix, and share their experiences!
Tandem Skydiving is the ideal introduction for members of the public to try this fantastic sport. Jumping from up to 13,000ft, securley attached to a British Parachute Association instuctor, it's possible for supportes to experience the thrill of a freefall in the hands of an expert.
On the day of the jump, each participant will be awarded a special edtion ' I jumped with Steve' T-shirt. Once Steve is a record holder, everyone taking part in the Scheme will be inivited to an evening at Skydive Airkix with Steve, who will talk about his achievements and present everyone who jumped for the East Anglian Air Ambulance with a first jump certificate personally signed by him.
www.spacejump.co.uk will keep you up-to-date with Steve's training.
